Álvaro A. Cruz
Graduado pela Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia - Universidade Federal da Bahia (FMB UFBA) em 1979, concluiu mestrado e doutorado na UFBA e pós-doutorado na Universidade Johns Hopkins - EUA (1990). Atualmente é Professor Associado da UFBA e coordenador do Núcleo de Excelência em Asma da UFBA (PRONEX). É membro do Grupo de Planejamento da Aliança Global contra Doenças Respiratórias Crônicas (GARD)/OMS, dos conselhos diretores da Inciativa Global contra a Asma (GINA) e da Iniciativa ARIA (Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma). Foi membro do Comitê Executivo da GARD/OMS entre 2007 e 2008. Iniciou na Bahia o Programa para o Controle da Asma (ProAR), foi Coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Medicina e Saúde (PPgMS) e Chefe do Serviço de Pneumologia do Hospital Universitário da UFBA. É membro do corpo docente permanente de 2 dos programas de pós-graduação da FMB e pesquisador do Serviço de Imunologia do Hospital Universitário (SIM) - UFBA. Tem experiência na área de medicina e de saúde pública, com ênfase em doenças respiratórias crônicas (pneumologia e alergologia). No ano de 2009 recebeu um prêmio especial da Organização Mundial de Alergia. Pesquisador 1B do CNPq.
