She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Feira de Santana (1997), Master's (2000) and PhD (2005) in Immunology, with an emphasis on Immunogenetics, from the Federal University of Bahia. She has a PhD in Genetics of Infectious Diseases from the University of Cambridge, England (2005-2007). She is currently associate researcher of the Immunology Service at the Federal University of Bahia, a biologist at the Federal University of Bahia and Permanent Professor in the post-graduate program in Health Sciences at the Federal University of Bahia. She has experience in the field of Immunology, with an emphasis on Immunogenetics and Molecular Biology, working mainly in the research of genetic factors in the host of American tegumentary leishmaniasis and in leprosy. She also works in the laboratory area of histocompatibility in transplants.
