He holds a Bachelor's degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Bahia (1983), Master's degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Bahia (1997) and Doctorate in Medicine from the Federal University of Bahia (2003). He did his post-graduate PhD in Immunodermatology at INSERM U209 in Lyon, from 1990 to 1991. He is currently a research associate of the Immunology Service at the Federal University of Bahia and Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the School of Medicine and Public Health in Bahia. He has experience in the fields of Immunology and dermatology, with emphasis on cellular immunology and immunotherapy, working mainly on the following subjects: American tegumentary leishmaniasis, leprosy, cytokines, immune modulation with Pentoxifylline and GM-CSF in cutaneous leishmaniasis and mucous membrane.
