Graduate in Medicine (1990) and a Master's degree in Immunology (1995) from the Federal University of Bahia; Doctorate in Immunology from the University of São Paulo (2000); training in molecular biology and molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases by Cornell University (1992-1995). Associate Professor of Parasitology (graduation), Molecular Epidemiology of infectious diseases (post-graduate program in Health Sciences) and Methodology of Experimental Science (post-graduate program in Immunology) from the Federal University of Bahia. Experience in the areas of molecular biology and immunology, with an emphasis on the study of the genetic polymorphism and population structure of infectious agents, as well as immune response to infections. Acts principally on the following subjects: molecular biology and molecular epidemiology of leishmaniosis and other infectious and parasitic diseases; and the evaluation of gene expression in infections.
