He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Bahia (1994), completed a residency in Neurology at the University of São Paulo, specialized in cerebrovascular diseases and neurointensivismo at Harvard University (2000) and gained a PhD in Neurology from the University of São Paulo (2001). He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Federal University of Bahia. He has experience in the field of Neurology, working mainly on the following themes: cerebrovascular accident, Chagas disease and acute cerebrovascular diseases. Researcher 2 of CNPq until February 2013. He did a post-doctoral fellowship at the MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL-HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL/UNITED STATES between June 2013 and May 2014 (a senior internship abroad with a scholarship from CAPES).
