Raymundo Paraná

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Bahia (1983), Master's Degree in Medicine and Health from the Federal University of Bahia (1992) and PhD in Medicine and Health from the Federal University of Bahia (1997). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Federal University of Bahia, Medical Officer of the Technical Chamber in Viral Hepatitis at the Health Department in the State of Bahia and the Ministry of Health in Brazil. At present, he is head of Gastro-Hepatology at the University Hospital Professor Edgard Santos, Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). He coordinates the program of continuing medical education in Hepatology "Hepatology of the Millennium" and the group of viral hepatitis studies involving reference centres in Hepatology in Salvador, Bahia, Rio Branco-AC, Cruzeiro do Sul-AC, Porto Velho-RO.

He is a member of the Brazilian Society of Hepatology, American Association for the Study of the Liver (AASLD), European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) and the Latin American Association for the Study of the Liver (ALEH). He has experience in the field of Medicine, with emphasis on Hepatology, working mainly on the following themes: hepatitis C/B/B, treatment of viral hepatitis, hepatitis viral Immunology, molecular biology of viral hepatitis.
